November 7th in pictures!

the evening, barricades are ready. Students are reclaiming space. In a corner kitchen improvised. Behind the barricades are decided following the mobilization. The univesité become what it should always be: a place for debate, information sharing. For the first time in years the students are no longer shadows in the corridors but be willing to share and exchange ideas. With the occupation a real sense of community.

After the General Assembly organized the students to build dams with tables and chairs that prevent them being held.

dam filter requires students to pass through a single entry. It is easier to inform all of the organization of a General Assembly to 12.30.

Today, Monday, November 5,
Despite the announcement of the reopening of the Faculty of Letters, made Tuesday, October 30 The site Schuman University Aix-Marseille 1 remained closed by order of the president.
For lack of information, students and teachers were presented with many closed gates of the site. The pretext of alleged security breach initially for the closure appears to us as a maneuver of the presidency to go against each other, the actors of the faculty.

On call of the Chair, a meeting of teachers, researchers, staff was held in Marseille St. Charles site in order to pit employees against university students. A General Assembly of the students in a hundred people took place on the St. Charles site shortly after this "crisis meeting". It was adopted:
- Repeal of the LRU
- Rehiring massive financial status in the university

Students of the Faculty of Letters Aix-en-Provence , mobilized against the LRU, organize a general meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, November 6 at 12:30 to discuss and arrange the further movement. The meeting will be held regardless of the actual decision whether to reopen the site, taken tomorrow morning. We invite the press to this meeting.

blockade: a boon for studies!

BLOCKING? A DEAL FOR THE STUDIES!
An academic perspective on blocking universities.
When students decide to block their university, it is often said that "the obstacles preventing students from studying," with all the catastrophic consequences this may have on further studies. Assertion to say the least surprising to anyone who knows what it means to study at university.
The fact is that when there is blockage, there is more course. Students were then afraid to "delay". But the delay over that? Not to their colleagues in the university, since it is then blocked for everyone (*). One could argue that it induces a shift from students from other universities where classes continue. But who, in a "normal" cares to know what program is actually done at another university ? On the sacrosanct 'program', some fear that weeks without being put behind the program. But what program? If this is the official program, with the offset program is being is a constant, and this is not a few weeks it will change anything. Besides the program - supposed or actually did - appears nowhere on a diploma. In addition, the university examinations are made and corrected by teachers who do the course (unlike the contests of the public or bachelor for example), and the only program on which we can test the student is what was actually being done. Thus blocking is not dramatic for further studies. We can go further and realize that for that understood the meaning of the university, the blockades are a godsend. Indeed a standard student always one step behind compared to the course. A time without a time-course is still too rare in a "normal" year - where students can catch up and update the knowledge he is supposed to have learned (and perhaps for once actual knowledge of the student will be celebrated at the official program ...). They will say we will be less seen. On the one hand this is not really important, it is better to know little and although a lot and very evil - which is also the main problem for students, because in this context we find ourselves stuck fast in his studies and certainly more than three stacked chairs. On the other hand does not go beyond what has been seen - are there many programs to master's level courses that are not standard and not found everywhere, if we take the trouble to complete a minimum of research - which should be a basic reflex when it comes to college? Are there any courses without bibliography? Beyond the master's level, there is no need to go to university to work ... This does not mean that courses are useless! But to say that no price is unable to work is a scam! The problem is that some qu'auront is often difficult to understand alone. But leisure time generated by the blocking (**) may also aim to meet other students and compare their knowledge, which is how the richest learning. For the purpose of the university is to train researchers, and it therefore expects the student autonomy in learning. The blockages cause a stoppage in the university, but to conclude that they cause a stoppage of students, it must have not understood the university. Students who find themselves paralyzed by the lack of courses and who need a `teacher 'always tell them what to do may not have chosen track. Should be advised to move to channels where `success' when we did exactly what we demand in a manner applied.
(*) In contrast, during the "normal" year, there a glaring inequality between those who can attend classes and those who can not always - students forced to work alongside their studies, for example. Note that this inequality is often justly criticized by blockers. Moreover stop operation of the university allows students to also have time to look at social news, especially that of the university, since it seems to take so anti-heart blockers.
(**) We often hear that the blockers block because it would be lazy who find an excuse to not go to class. Gold blocking requires spending the entire day at the university for several days, from 7:30 in the morning or even less. many students can they boast of such a presence at the university?

Trade unions protest against the attitude of the presidency of the University of Provence.

The facts are: Tuesday, October 30, following incidents at a share student information, management makes a unilateral decision to close the site until Schuman further notice. Responding to the call of the President, leaders of trade unions say they are unanimously opposed to the closure of the site, they describe the error. Despite this, President maintains its decision.

It also agreed a second meeting with union leaders Monday, November 5 Schuman Centre at 7.30am, to discuss the immediate reopening of the site, and a meeting general staff, later called by the Chair.

However, although no new event has been introduced Tuesday in any emergency, the management of the University decides to change these provisions, without any formal notification to the unions. It is by leakage (an email from a director of the Faculty teachers UFR) we learn that AG is convened by the Presidency on the site of St. Charles, Monday, November 5 - Schuman the site remains so closed that day. And what is that on Friday at 14:30, the Chair informed the unions finally, by a telephone call to their secretaries, the meeting management / union will be held in St. Charles at 9 am and general meeting at 10.30am. The management announced its intention to formally convene the AGM on the evening of Friday through the website of the University (at the time of writing this release, the information is still not passed). She also asked the unions to relay information.

We protest strongly against these measures that are similar to a vulgar manipulation, as well as against the lockout of the Schuman Centre, the incidents did not warrant any Tuesday morning.

This is a blatant provocation of making believe, claiming some flooding individual students are troublemakers who threaten the order and serenity of the University. The future of our university, like all universities in France, can be decided without the participation of students, those most concerned, who have also shown in the past sense of responsibility.

We finally recall that there is no other emergency at the University of Provence, that the university crisis in general, aggravated the crisis law known as "LRU", and he probably should expect a movement of staff and students against this law, as is already the case in other establishments.

We support any initiative to make the debate more democratic. If the President of the University wishes to convene a general assembly, we invite you to do it publicly, transparently and without seeking to exclude anyone by attempts to reduce information. We also invite to make the agenda of this General Assembly the question is really at stake in the current period for the university: the law "LRU" and the merger of three universities - the agenda is still not announced, it is unclear how the issue of organization and mobilization of legitimacy could be one.

The attitude of management, provocative, also reveals a serious mistrust vis-à-vis students, or organizations representing staff and students, and the choice of solutions maneuverability rather than creating a respectful and responsible debate. We already hold management responsible for the consequences that they might have. These measures, which confirm an abusive interpretation of the incidents on Tuesday, are hurting students by depriving them of education and violating their rights. We redemandons the opening of the site without waiting Schuman, we protest against the role that management wants us to take and we reaffirm our right to call the AG in a public and democratic.
